Terms & Conditions
Bike Tours and Bike Rental — in force since 20 July 2026. RNAAT No. 704/2025 · Tax no. 509425437.
Part 1Bike Tours
1.1 Scope and operator
These terms govern participation in the guided bicycle rides (“Bike Tours”) organised by Lima & Limão — Cycling Services, Lda., established in Setúbal, tax number 509425437, a tourist entertainment operator registered with the RNAAT under no. 704/2025. By booking a tour, the customer enters into a contract with Lima & Limão and declares acceptance of these terms.
1.2 Types of tour
- Scheduled group tours — set routes (for example, Serra da Arrábida, Tróia & Comporta, Azeitão), in small groups, with a local guide;
- Private or bespoke tours — designed on request for an individual, a family or a group, with the itinerary and pace adjusted accordingly.
1.3 Booking and payment
Booking requests may be made through the website, by WhatsApp or in the shop. A booking is deemed confirmed once Lima & Limão has confirmed it in writing and the payment due at booking has cleared.
For single-day group tours, payment is made in full at the time of booking. For private or bespoke tours, a 50% deposit is due at booking and the balance no later than 7 days before the tour date; for bookings made less than 7 days in advance, payment is made in full on confirmation.
1.4 Price — what is included
Unless stated otherwise in the description of each tour, the price includes:
- a local guide and technical or mechanical support throughout the route;
- personal accident and public liability insurance, as required by the law applicable to tourist entertainment activities;
- water and a light snack;
- on the Tróia & Comporta tour: the ferry crossing; on the Azeitão tour: the wine and cake tasting stated in the description.
The bicycle and helmet are not included unless stated otherwise: participants may use their own bicycle or rent one from us, in which case Part 2 of these terms applies.
1.5 Changes by the customer
Requests to change a booking (date, route, number of participants) must be made in writing and are subject to availability. Changes may result in price adjustments. A reduction in the number of participants is subject to the cancellation policy in clause 1.6, applied to the cancelled part.
1.6 Cancellation by the customer
Cancellations must be made in writing (e-mail or WhatsApp). The Lisbon date and time at which the communication is received applies.
Single-day group tours:
- more than 72 hours before the start — full refund;
- between 72 and 24 hours before — 50% refund;
- less than 24 hours before, or no-show — no refund.
Private or bespoke tours:
- more than 7 days before the start — full refund of the deposit;
- between 7 days and 72 hours before — 50% of the total price is due;
- less than 72 hours before, or no-show — the total price is due.
If the customer nominates a suitably able substitute participant, the substitution is free of charge. Withdrawing part-way through a tour (fatigue, early return, and so on) does not give rise to a pro-rata refund.
1.7 Changes and cancellation by Lima & Limão
Safety comes first. Lima & Limão may adjust the itinerary, the timing or the meeting point for reasons of weather, traffic or safety; adjustments of this kind are considered minor changes and do not give rise to compensation. If conditions do not allow the tour to be run safely, or if the minimum of 4 participants is not reached on group tours (notice given up to 48 hours before), Lima & Limão will offer the customer the choice of a new date or a full refund of the amount paid.
1.8 Unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances
Lima & Limão is not liable for failures in performance caused by unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances that it could not foresee or avoid even with all due diligence — in particular extreme weather, natural disasters, fire, epidemics, acts of public authority, strikes or serious disruption to transport (including suspension of the Tróia ferry). In such cases, clause 1.7 applies.
1.9 Participant responsibilities
- Arrive at the meeting point at the appointed time; lateness that prevents departure is treated as a no-show;
- Ensure physical fitness appropriate to the difficulty level stated in the tour description — several hours of outdoor physical activity, with climbs in the case of the Arrábida;
- Wear a helmet (supplied or your own) throughout the route and comply with the Portuguese Highway Code;
- Participants under 18 may take part only when accompanied by a parent or responsible adult;
- Accept the risks inherent in cycling — falls, collisions, uneven surfaces — which remain even with full organisation and supervision.
People with reduced mobility or specific needs should contact us before booking, so that we can assess together whether the tour can be safely adapted.
1.10 Health and medical conditions
Participants must disclose, at the time of booking, any medical condition, allergy or limitation relevant to the activity. Lima & Limão may refuse or interrupt participation where adequate safety conditions cannot be assured, with no right to a refund if the information due was withheld.
1.11 Conduct
During the tour, participants follow the guide’s instructions. Lima & Limão may exclude from the tour, without refund, anyone whose behaviour is dangerous, disrespectful or unlawful — including riding under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances — or who endangers their own safety or that of the group. Damage caused by a participant to equipment, vehicles or third parties is their responsibility.
1.12 Liability of Lima & Limão
Lima & Limão organises its tours with the diligence of an experienced operator and is responsible for the accuracy of its descriptions and for the proper preparation of the activity. It is not liable for loss or damage resulting from the acts or omissions of the participant, of third parties unconnected with the service, or from extraordinary circumstances (clause 1.8). Save in cases of wilful misconduct or gross negligence, the liability of Lima & Limão for proven damage is limited to three times the price of the service concerned, except in respect of personal injury, liability for which is neither limited nor excluded.
1.13 Complaints, governing law and jurisdiction
The common provisions in Part 3 apply.
Part 2Bike Rental
2.1 Scope and contract
These terms govern the rental of bicycles and accessories from Lima & Limão — Cycling Services, Lda. By renting, the customer enters into a binding contract and declares that they have read and accepted these terms. Rental is restricted to persons aged 18 or over.
2.2 Obligations of the parties
Lima & Limão undertakes to: deliver the bicycle and accessories serviced and fit for use; and provide assistance in the event of breakdown or accident during the rental period.
The customer undertakes to: use the equipment normally and prudently, complying with the Portuguese Highway Code; not to sub-let, lend, modify or adapt it; to carry only one person per bicycle and to respect the maximum weight stated for the model; to report breakdowns, damage or theft immediately; to pay the rental, the security deposit and any costs provided for in these terms; and to return the equipment on the agreed date and time, in the condition in which it was received.
2.3 Booking and payment
A 50% deposit of the total amount is required to confirm a rental. The balance must be paid no later than 1 month before the rental start date; for bookings made less than 1 month before the start, payment is made in full on confirmation. Prices are in euros and include VAT.
2.4 Identification and security deposit
Valid photographic identification must be presented at collection. A refundable security deposit is also payable, per bicycle, and is returned when the equipment is handed back without damage or missing items:
| Bicycle type | Security deposit |
|---|---|
| eMTB | €100 |
| MTB | €50 |
| eTRK | €100 |
| TRK | €50 |
| Road Di2 | €100 |
| Road Plus | €100 |
| Road | €100 |
| Gravel Plus | €100 |
| Gravel | €100 |
| Kids Bike | €50 |
2.5 Collection and condition of the equipment
The customer inspects the equipment at collection and reports any existing defect or damage at that moment. Damage not reported is presumed to have occurred during the rental. Charges for scratches to the paintwork:
- scratch up to 1 cm — €5;
- scratch up to 1.5 cm — €10;
- scratch up to 5 cm — €20;
- other damage — subject to assessment, at the cost of repair or replacement.
2.6 Changes and cancellation by the customer
Requests to change a booking (dates, period, type of bicycle) must be made in writing and are subject to availability, and may involve a price adjustment. Cancellations must be made in writing and follow the policy in force:
| Notice given | Charge |
|---|---|
| 28 days or more before the start | €20 per person per rental |
| 21 to 27 days | 25% of the amount |
| 7 to 20 days | 50% of the amount |
| 3 to 6 days | 75% of the amount |
| 1 to 2 days | 90% of the amount |
| Less than 24 hours, or no-show | 100% of the amount |
If the customer provides a substitute, no cancellation charge applies. Being unable to make use of the rental for personal reasons (illness, early return, and so on) does not give rise to a pro-rata refund.
2.7 Changes and cancellation by Lima & Limão
Lima & Limão may substitute the bicycle booked for another of equal or higher category, without this giving rise to compensation. If suitable equipment cannot be made available, the customer is entitled to a full refund of the amounts paid. If the balance is not paid on time, the booking may be cancelled, in which case the policy in clause 2.6 applies.
2.8 Unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances
Neither party is liable for non-performance caused by unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances (clause 1.8, applicable with the necessary adaptations). In such cases, Lima & Limão will offer a new date or a refund of the amounts paid for the period not used.
2.9 Responsible use and restrictions
- The bicycles are intended for users with riding experience; they may not be used for learning to ride;
- Use in extreme sports, competitions or similar events is prohibited without prior declaration at booking and written approval, and additional conditions may apply;
- Avoid riding alone in remote areas; if you do, carry a charged phone and a planned route;
- Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended; for minors it is compulsory under Portuguese law.
2.10 Breakdown, damage and theft
In the event of breakdown or damage during the rental, the customer must contact Lima & Limão before carrying out any repair; unauthorised repairs are not reimbursed. In the event of theft, the customer must report it immediately to the PSP or GNR and provide Lima & Limão with a copy of the police report. The following amounts are payable for loss, theft or irreparable damage:
| Bicycle type | Value |
|---|---|
| eMTB | €3,200 |
| MTB | €700 |
| eTRK | €3,000 |
| TRK | €700 |

| Road Plus | €2,800 |
| Road | €1,500 |
| Gravel Plus | €2,450 |
| Gravel | €1,600 |
| Kids Bike | €250 |
2.11 Return
The equipment is returned on the agreed date, time and place. Late returns may incur a charge for a full additional day. Failure to return the equipment after formal demand is treated as loss under clause 2.10, without prejudice to criminal liability.
2.12 Delivery and collection
An optional delivery and collection service is available at accommodation and other locations, according to the zones and prices published in the current price list. The customer warrants that the location, time and contact details given are accurate and that they will be reachable by phone on the day. If delivery fails for reasons attributable to the customer, the fee is due in full and any repeat attempt constitutes a new request.
2.13 Liability
Clauses 1.9 (participant responsibilities), 1.10 (health) and 1.12 (liability of Lima & Limão, including the limit of three times the price of the service) apply with the necessary adaptations. Lima & Limão is not liable for accidents resulting from improper or negligent use of the equipment.
Part 3Common provisions
3.1 Data protection
Personal data collected at booking is processed by Lima & Limão solely for the management of the booking, the contract and the associated legal obligations (including insurance), in accordance with the GDPR and the Privacy Policy available on the website. 3.2 Complaints

3.5 Acceptance
By completing a tour or rental booking, the customer declares that they have read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions. If in doubt, please contact us before finalising your booking.
